How to Use a Google Maps Route in OsmAnd

OsmAnd doesn't open a Google Maps link directly, but it navigates from GPX tracks, which is exactly what SmartGPX generates.

Getting the track into OsmAnd

OsmAnd is the app doing the navigating, not a separate device to sync, so importing is simpler. Open the downloaded GPX file and choose "Open in OsmAnd" from your phone's share menu, or open OsmAnd itself and go to My Places, then Tracks, to import it manually. The track lands in your Import folder. From there you can start navigation directly from the track, and if the GPX has multiple segments, OsmAnd lets you pick which one to follow.

Good to know

OsmAnd navigates using its own routing engine and whichever navigation profile you've selected (walking, cycling, driving, and so on), so how closely it follows the exact imported line can vary with that setting rather than always tracing the GPX point-for-point.
